CCK Motorsport – Knockhill Race Report from the Porsche Carrera Cup GB. Here is the full race report from team Manager, Daniel Lackey.
We’ve just made it back from Scotland following rounds 7 & 8 of Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Knockhill Circuit. It was our first time at Knockhill and we loved it! This is a true drivers circuit and it very much suits Charles’s driving style. Testing on Wednesday was the very first time he ever drove the circuit. He put in some good lap times and improved each time he hit the track. In Saturday’s qualifying, it all came together. Charles qualified on the Pro-Am pole with a lap time of 49.222. An incredible achievement for a rising star.
Sunday continued in the same vain. Charles kept his position whilst building a gap to the next Pro-Am challengers behind. This was his second Pro-Am win of the season so far. Race 2 started fantastically. Starting from 7th overall, Charles stuck with the leading pack of Pro drivers until a safety car was called out. Upon the restart Charles had a failure of the left driveshaft assembly. We believe it was when another car made contact with the left wheel earlier in the race. Despite the DNF in race 2,
we come away from Scotland very happy. Charles talents are growing with each round and we know now that we have what it takes to win races.
And in other news, tomorrow we are heading off to Le Mans. Charles will be lining up in an international grid of Porsche 911 GT3s for the opening race of the 2021 Le Mans 24 hour. An invaluable opportunity to get seat time at one of the most famous circuits in motor racing. We cannot wait to get there and be a part of the festivities. Wish us luck.
